Rule-based distribution
Points, hours, role weightings and period rules held in one place and applied the same way every time.
Multi-site rule sets
Different rules per site or brand, with consolidated reporting across the group.
Payroll export
Approved figures exported in the shape your payroll expects, with the tronc PAYE scheme kept separate.
Employee statements
Each person can see what they received and the rule that produced it.
Audit trail
Every period's calculation, decision and approval retained for the records staff and HMRC can ask for.
Independent approval
We approve the allocation as troncmaster — the step software alone cannot provide.
See the rules engine
A simplified version of the distribution engine. Change the pool or the weightings and the split recalculates, exactly as it does per period in the platform.

Software does not make a scheme compliant
Worth saying plainly, because a lot of the category implies otherwise. A tool can hold the rules, run the arithmetic and store the evidence. It cannot take the allocation decision on your behalf. Where the employer configures and signs off the split, HMRC can treat the employer as having decided it — and the 15% employer National Insurance exemption goes with it.
That is why this is sold with an independent troncmaster attached rather than as self-serve software. The troncmaster role is the part that carries the risk.

Frequently asked questions
- Is the tronc software available now?
- It is in beta. We run it alongside our managed tronc service for a limited number of sites while we build out the features operators actually ask for. Early-access places are handled case by case.
- Does software make a tronc scheme compliant?
- No. Software can hold the rules, run the calculation and keep the audit trail, but the allocation decision must still be taken by a troncmaster acting independently of the employer. If the employer configures and approves the split, the National Insurance treatment is exposed regardless of the tool used.
- How is this different from tronc software we configure ourselves?
- We act as independent troncmaster as well as providing the system, so the decision that carries the tax and tribunal risk is taken at arm's length from you and evidenced in the records.
- Can it handle multiple sites with different rules?
- Yes — separate rule sets per site or brand, with consolidated reporting across the group. This is the main reason multi-site operators come to us.
